A LAMPETER motorist has been fined £440 and had his licence endorsed with three penalty points for driving a car with such a heavily-tinted window that it was deemed to represent a danger to other road users.

David Michael Jones aged 39, of Dihewyd, was convicted of using a BMW in a condition likely to cause danger or injury when his case came before Carmarthenshire magistrates sitting at Llanelli.

The bench was told the defendant committed the offence whilst driving on North Road, Aberystwyth on August 26.

Police officers using a calibrated tint master device in three places determined that below 31 per cent of light was being transmitted through the heavily-tinted front nearside passenger window.

The case was proved under the single justice procedure and Jones also ordered to pay a victim’s surcharge of £44 along with £90 costs.
