South Hook LNG site has been reopened, following a bomb scare this morning.

Day shift workers were evacuated from the site shortly after 9am this morning, as police officers rushed to cordon off the site.

The precautionary action came following a threat made in a phone call to the site this morning.

A spokesman for South Hook LNG has confirmed that everything is now back to normal on the site and that police searches did not uncover an explosive device.

"Following discussion with the police the site has now been reopened," he said. "We will be back to full operations with tonight's night shift. The matter will now be the subject of a police investigation."
