Four beaches in Pembrokeshire have been revealed as the best for dogs in Wales by a recent study. 

Saundersfoot Beach was named the best beach in Wales for dogs while other spots in Tenby and St David's also featured on the list created by West Wales Holiday Cottages. 

The experts at West Wales Holiday Cottages analysed a range of factors to come up with the list including the number of dog-friendly accommodations and eateries, average temperatures, and water quality.

The experts said: "For those who love to be near the beach and also want to share that joy with their four-legged friends, England and Wales have plenty of options.

"A dog-friendly holiday is a perfect way to escape the daily grind and spend quality time with your furry friend.

"Booking a coastal holiday cottage is one of the best options for dog-friendly holidays, as they usually allow pets, making your stay comfortable and convenient.

"But which beaches around England and Wales are the best for dog owners?"

The best beaches in Wales, according to West Wales Holiday Cottages, are:

  4. Traeth Trearddur, Anglesey
  5. Whitesands Bay, St David's, Pembrokeshire
  6. Castle Beach, Tenby, Pembrokeshire
  7. Harlech Beach, Gwynedd
  8. Aberdyfi Beach, Gwynedd
  9. Langland Bay, Mumbles, Swansea
  10. Tenby North Beach, Pembrokeshire

The Pembrokeshire beaches among the best in Wales for dogs

Saundersfoot Beach

Saundersfoot Beach, in Saudersfoot, was ranked the best in Wales for dogs with an overall score of 6.15 out of 10.

The experts at West Wales Holiday Cottages said: "The beach comes with a strong review score of 4.7 out of 5.

"In the summer months, there are a few dog restrictions; however, your furry friends are always allowed in the area before Coppet Hall Beach.

"Two-thirds of Saundersfoot’s accommodation listings also allow pets, and over a quarter of restaurants are dog-friendly."

Whitesands Bay

Explaining why Whitesands Bay was among the best beaches in Wales for Dogs, West Wales Holiday Cottages said: "The beach excels in its water quality with an “Excellent” rating.

"If you’re planning a visit, you’ll also find a reasonable number of dog-friendly establishments in Whitesands, making it a balanced choice for dog owners."

Castle Beach

The beach located in Tenby was named sixth best in Wales for places to take your dog.

It recorded an overall score of 5.28 and according to the experts it boasted "excellent" beach water quality and one of the lowest average annual rainfalls (1,144mm).

It also had a review score of 4.7 out of 5.

Tenby North Beach

Tenby North Beach was ranked 10th best in Wales for dogs.

It had an overall score of 5.07 out of 10 and a review score of 4.8 (out of 5).
