THE Met Office has forecast a change in weather this weekend, with rain expected to break the recent hot and sunny spell in Pembrokeshire.

The region is set to once again experience temperatures over 30°C this week, with a hosepipe ban in place for several areas in the north of the region.

The dry conditions have also led to a drought declaration for the whole of Wales by Natural Resources Wales.

However, the Met Office has forecast the weather to change over the weekend, with temperatures dropping and the possibility of showers on Friday and Saturday.

The rain is expected to be more widespread on Sunday, August 16, with a 30 per cent chance of rain from 10am in Haverfordwest, St Davids, and Fishguard.

The chance of rain increases to 40 per cent overnight, with the rain expected to clear by 7am.

In Tenby, the rain is expected to start at 1pm on Sunday, with a 30 per cent chance throughout the day, increasing to 40 per cent from 10pm.

The rain is expected to clear by mid-morning.

Temperatures are expected to be cooler, with highs of 21°C on Saturday and 20°C on Sunday in Haverfordwest and Tenby.

Fishguard will see highs of 19°C on both days, whilst St Davids is forecast to reach 19°C on Saturday and 20°C on Sunday.

The rain is expected to bring some relief to the region, which has been experiencing yet another heatwave this summer.

Met Office deputy chief forecaster Mike Silverstone said: "After a brief dip on Monday (August 10), high pressure will move across the UK before settling to the east, allowing a southerly flow to develop.

"A fairly widespread heatwave is likely across large parts of England and Wales, with hot conditions developing in places.

"The heat is expected to peak for much of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland on Wednesday, with up to 34°C possible in parts of central and southern England and southeast Wales.

"East Anglia and south-east England, however, could see temperatures even higher on Thursday.

"Humidity levels are also expected to increase through the week, which may make conditions feel more uncomfortable, particularly overnight."
