Pembrokeshire’s social housing register has reopened to new applicants after a temporary closure.

Choice Homes @ Pembrokeshire Housing Register reopened to the public on October 28, following a period of closure while the council prepared to introduce a revised housing allocation policy.

The reopening comes after a decision to delay the implementation of the new policy, with the council keen to avoid disadvantaging those in need of housing support.

"The Housing Register has now reopened to ensure new applicants can continue to access social housing opportunities and are not disadvantaged whilst work on the revised policy continues."

Applications received during this period will be assessed under the current housing allocation policy, allowing individuals with a demonstrated housing need to join the register and be considered for available properties.

New applications can be submitted online at www.choicehomespembrokeshire.org/.

Applicants will be assessed based on existing eligibility criteria and the current priority banding system, with housing need remaining the main factor in determining priority.

Those who have already completed their reapplication do not need to take further action unless their circumstances have changed or additional information is requested.

However, the weekly Choice Homes property advert remains temporarily suspended.

Social housing properties will continue to be allocated directly to eligible applicants from existing shortlists.

This means there is currently no requirement for applicants to bid on advertised properties.

"This temporary arrangement ensures homes continue to be allocated while preparations for future changes to the Housing Allocation Policy continue."

Applicants are encouraged to review and update their preferred letting areas to ensure they remain accurate.

Supporting applicants remains a key priority during this period.

The Housing Services team continues to offer support through various communication channels to help applicants understand the current process and any actions they may need to take.

Extra support is being offered to those who may face barriers to engagement, including vulnerable households and those at risk of digital exclusion.

The council is committed to ensuring all applicants can access the help they need to remain active on the housing register and be considered for appropriate housing opportunities.

Anyone needing support with a new application, updating details, or discussing their housing situation can contact the housing team at choicehomeschange@pembrokeshire.gov.uk or by calling 01437 776603.
