Dear editor

I was disgusted to see two water jet units trying to wash off chewing gum that had been dropped on the brand new pavement along Victoria Place in Haverfordwest.

The town centre has only just been refurbished, costing tax payers thousands of pounds, but you would never know that for the amount of white marks of chewing gum dropped on the newly laid pavements.

A Scottish doctor recently suggested charging an extra tax on chocolate, but I think there should be a local tax on chewing gum as it is costing tax payers millions.

It is time the council had the guts to take someone to court for dropping litter on Pembrokeshire’s streets.
