Dear Editor
Pembrokeshire County Council has moved Fishguard library’s CD collection to the building’s basement and the public has to browse the collection on the internet.

The justification for this decision is that not enough people are borrowing the CDs.

If you apply the same logic to the many shelves of unread library books gathering dust and taking up space, they too will all land up in the basement where they can be browsed on the internet.

Librarians and library assistants can too be moved to the bargain basement sale that will inevitably follow.

This is death by a thousand cuts of a public library lending service that increasingly looks to be threatened with extinction.
