Three police officers were assaulted when a Fishguard woman was taken to Withybush Hospital last year.

Nineteen-year-old Lisa Sture of 1 Heol Glyndwr appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, pleading guilty to three charges of assault.

Sture was taken to hospital by ambulance on the evening of December 7th. When she arrived, the court heard, she was swearing, kicking and punching out at paramedics.

Prosecutor, Ellie Morgan, said that no paramedics were hurt but staff felt it necessary to call the police due to Sture's aggressive behaviour.

While sat in a wheelchair Sture spat at one officer, Miss Morgan said, hitting him just below his neck, on his clothing.

Sture then grabbed an overhead lamp and when two female officers tried to stop her, the court heard she threw a "full force punch" to the face of one officer, "debilitating her for a moment."

Magistrates also heard that Sture dug her nails into the arm of the officer and then kicked a second officer in the thigh.

Miss Morgan said: "Her behaviour at the hospital was described as foul. One of the nursing staff said her behaviour was very aggressive towards frontline medical staff and was she was appalled by the defendant's behaviour."

Defending, Mark Layton, said that Sture remembers nothing about the incident because she was drunk but she was extremely sorry for her conduct.

"Sometimes all you can do is say how sorry you are," said Mr Layton.

Sture will be sentenced next month, following a pre-sentence report, and magistrates warned her that a custodial sentence was a possibility.
