The reggae Festival of Wales is back with over 30 top international and UK roots 'n' culture artists performing on three stages, over two days.

In the year that Bob Marley would have turned 60, his son is to visit Pembrokeshire. Ky-Mani Marley will perform at this year's festival on Withybush Showground, Haverfordwest, on July 9th and 10th.

The first and only reggae festival in the UK, it was brought to Pembrokeshire by Charles Braithwaite, who has lived in St Dogmaels since 1997, after moving from Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Charles said: "Reggae Wales is solidifying its position as the leading annual international reggae event in the UK. It features top British and international pioneers of reggae music from the early '60s, as well as contemporary reggae artists."

Born in Barbados, his first love was music.

He said: "I have been involved in reggae my whole life, from rapping on the streets to becoming a promoter from the age of 21 to now.

"When I moved here, there was no real reggae scene, so I began reggae nights in pubs and at the Waterfront, Haverfordwest. They were popular and proved that there was a demand for a reggae festival.

"The festival, born in 2003, has gone from strength to strength. Pembrokeshire is a magical place and its beauty and reggae music go hand in hand to create a wonderful atmosphere for a festival."

He is getting no funding and is asking for support to keep the festival going permanently. Black Uhuru, led by Michael Rose, headlines the festival and he will be joined by Ijahman Levi, Ky-Mani Marley, Johnny Clark, Michael Prophet, InI Kamoze, Sista, Mikey Dread, Levi Roots, Colour Red, Iration Steppas, Atinuke, Askala and many more.

Charles said: "There will be a wide range of cultural, craft and culinary workshops. This is a real family festival bringing together people of all backgrounds and from around the world."
