Pembrokeshire Fish Week has flourished since it was launched six years ago and is now one of the most popular annual festivals in west Wales.

This year's event, which will be held between June 25th and July 3rd, is packed full of family friendly events, including cookery demonstrations, fishing competitions and seashore safaris.

"Pembrokeshire Fish Week aims to celebrate the abundance of fish and seafood found around the county's coastline," said Kate Morgan, food officer at Pembrokeshire County Council.

"It's designed to raise awareness of the wonderful fish and seafood available from our rivers and coastline as well as boost our fishing industry and promote sustainable fish stocks."

With over 160 hospitality establishments, fisheries, retailers and boat charters taking part, this year's event is as big as ever and will have something for everyone.

For keen anglers there are a range of competitions for all ages and standards, from coarse to sea fishing. Or, for those who simply want to 'have a go' at fishing, there are several free events introducing the sport.

These include, sea fishing at Milford Haven, coarse fishing at Llawhaden, fly fishing at several beautiful locations, events for the disabled at Treffgarne Gorge or - new for this year - Tackle to Table at Llysyfran Reservoir, where participants can learn how to cook the trout they catch.

The festival is well known as a food lover's paradise. Fish lovers can start their day with a Shanty Music Brunch in Tenby, enjoy a lunchtime seafood barbecue, and finish off with a sea food extravaganza or fresh fish and chip supper with a difference at numerous locations throughout the county.

They can also spend an evening in a coastal pub with sea shanties, folk music and singalong ballads, or listen to winning poetry and the stunning sounds of Ember at Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard.

Meanwhile budding cooks can be inspired by fish and shellfish cookery demonstrations at Milford Haven and Tenby, join an oriental cookery course or watch guest celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven. Pembrokeshire Fish Week is organised by by Pembrokeshire County Council and supported by the Welsh Develop ment Agency and Objective One.
