Considered to be a first class meeting, held in ideal conditions and enjoyed by an exceptionally large crowd, the Pembrokeshire Hunt point to point steeplechases at Trecoed farm, near Fishguard again was a huge success.

This being the last race meeting of the season there were a number of championships for both jockeys and horses to be decided which added considerably to the excitement of the occasion.

The organisers gratefully acknowledge the continued generosity of so many willing sponsors which ensures that events of this kind may remain an important and highly significant part of the Hunt calendar.

Possibly the race of the day was the first on the card, the Hunt Members, where student vet Isobel Tomsett ensured that Wiston Wizo, owned locally by Brian and Jean Llewellyn, won by just a short head from the 13-year-old gelding, Stanmore, owned and ridden by Tivyside's George Humfrey which was gaining ground fast at the finish.

Winning at odds of 6- 1 this was also the race of the day where the punters enjoyed a modest return.

As in all events of this kind there is the danger of injuries and jockey casualties included Mark Barber, whose horse attempted to run out at a particular fence, and Anna de Lille whose mount had similar ideas at another. There were no injuries to any horses.
