Preparations have been completed for the largest autograss event to be staged in Wales in 2005.

The second round of the British Autograss Series (BAS) will be hosted by the Pembroke Autograss Club on Saturday and Sunday with the racing starting at 9am.

The Lamphey racetrack judged to be one of the fastest in the county, is expecting competitors, travelling from all parts of the British Isles, including northern and southern Ireland.

There will be 22 classes ranging from the standard class one 1000cc mini's to the super saloons of class seven, powered by either car or twin motorbike engines, before moving on to the 'open-wheel' specials.

The venue at Lamphey, Pembroke, will be open to the public from Thursday at 2 pm, with all amenities on site.

Scrutinising of the race cars begins at 3pm on Friday afternoon.

Many national and British champions will be taking part.

So come along for two days of action-packed autograss racing and witness all the thrills and spills, with excellent driving skills from the men, ladies and junior competitors.

Each competitor will compete in three qualifying heats - two on Saturday and one on Sunday morning, followed by the grand finals Sunday afternoon.

At the beginning of June, many members of the Pembroke Autograss Club travelled to Stratford-upon-Avon to compete in the 'MAP' open championships.

Michaela Bevans PAC5 drove superbly all weekend and took home top honours in the ladies class one final.

This meeting was the largest autograss event in history with 756 competitors. Michaela saw off many more experienced national and British champions and came home in first place.

Two years ago Michaela became the British junior champion, the only girl ever to take this accolade.

Now two years later she takes the top ladies title, at the 'MAP' autograss championships. Michaela, along with all other club drivers, will be competing this weekend.
