The annual Pembrokeshire Triathlon takes place at Goodwick Beach on Saturday.

This year there will be several changes to the now familiar event, the biggest change being the distances of both races.

The shorter race on offer will be 750m swim, 25km bike and a 5km run. This is now in keeping with the standard distance for a sprint race.

The longer event will consist of 2km swim, 75km bike and a 20km run. This distance in miles equals a 1.25 mile swim, 50 mile bike and a 13 mile run.

The winner of this distance will complete the course in approximately four hours with the slower athletes taking up to eight hours and finishing within the now famous Fishguard and Goodwick Community Events Association beach party.

The racing begins at around midday with the race based in front of the Ocean Lab at Goodwick Beach, this will be an ideal place to view the race and show your support for these athletes, they will be passing this area an amazing 14 times in the longer race and eight times in the sprint.

Athletes in the shorter race will run along the inner breakwater three times and will be in sight for the whole of this leg, there are not many races in this country that can boast such a spectator friendly course as at the Pembs Tri.

This year also brings a new category to the race the Super Hero Category.

Batman and Robin fresh from their latest adventure in the Lanzarote Ironman event will compete in the relay race and will be racing on a tandem if you do see the caped crusaders please give both your support and your money generously as these super heroes are raising money for the British Heart Foundation.
