A PEMBROKESHIRE sportsman died on Friday morning when his car and a van collided near Hundleton.

Ender Anlar, a 32-year-old sub-contractor working at the Texaco refinery, was on his way home after a night shift when the accident occurred at around 8am near the Speculation Inn. He died at the scene.

Originally from Turkey, Ender lived in Church Street, Pembroke Dock, with his wife Helen, and daughters, Yasemin, who is three-and-a-half, and Zaina, ten months.

Ender's 33-year-old widow was too upset to comment, but her brother, Stephen Blunsden, said: "He was great with the kids, a real family man. He would do anything for anyone if he could."

A keen footballer and well liked member of the local community, Ender played for Monkton Swifts, where a minute's silence was observed in his memory on Sunday.

He had played first and second team football for the club over the last ten years. Chairman of the club, Paul Blunsden - Stephen Blunsden's cousin - said: "Ender was always enthusiastic, both on and off the pitch - always full of beans.

"He was very friendly and well liked. He never had a bad word to say about anyone." The driver and passenger of the van were taken to Withybush Hospital.

The passenger was discharged later the same day. At the time of going to press, the driver was still receiving treatment for his injuries.
