Police found an intoxicated landlord dancing barefoot in the bar to music provided by a woman singing to a tape, a court was told.

A penalty of £620 was imposed by magistrates at Haverfordwest on Monday on Shaun Anthony Dodd, aged 33, of The Lamb Inn, 14 High Street, Tenby, who twice allowed entertainment in his premises without a public entertainment licence.

He was fined £200 for an offence in October and £300 for a second offence in December and was ordered to pay £120 court costs after pleading guilty to both offences.

Mr Chris Harries for Pembrokeshire County Council said council officers heard singing at the premises at 10.15pm on Tuesday, October 16th, and saw a woman singing to taped music. Dodd said he was applying for a licence and added that he had never had a problem in Merthyr Tydfil.

At 12.05am on December 18th, police heard singing and found the same offence being committed and an intoxicated Dodd dancing barefoot in the bar. He was told to end the entertainment, but the vocalist sang another song and Dodd said he was off duty.

It was said on his behalf that the owners of the pub had delayed applying for a licence because a new Act was coming into force. Acoustic entertainment was allowed by up to two singers, but the use of tapes made it an offence.
