TEMPORARY accommodation for LNG plant workers may be provided in caravans.

Pat and Danny Thomas believe an application has been submitted to put 40 caravans on an industrial estate next to their house in Waterston.

They say this follows a letter from Pembrokeshire County Council informing them that an application had been made.

Mrs Thomas believes contractors should be housed in local hotels and B&Bs to put money back into the community.

The Thomas' lounge and bedroom both look out over the site. "Our privacy will be taken away," she said. The couple have been living at their property on Waterston Road for ten years. "We put all our money and our pension into the property ," said Mrs Thomas. A works entrance is located opposite their home and a gas pipeline is planned for a field on the other side.

She fears that the LNG plant will lower the re-sale price and having the workers' caravan site right next door will make selling impossible during the construction period. A spokesman for Dragon LNG said their contractors knew nothing about the plans, expected to be registered with Pembrokeshire County Council this week.

"We would not be happy about something like that right in the village," he added. Similarly, South Hook LNG Terminal Company Ltd has confirmed that neither it, nor any of its main contractors, have been in discussions with landowners in the Waterston area regarding the provision of temporary accommodation.
