A tornado or whirlwind was spotted in north Pembrokeshire last week by a local tornado enthusiast.

Martin Williams from Trefin has always wanted to see a tornado and his dream came true last Tuesday at 4.15pm, when he spotted one four miles from his house, after a thunderstorm.

The tornado is the first one recorded in Pembrokeshire this year. There have been several tornadoes seen over the sea or land in Pembrokeshire during the last few years.

Martin Williams said: "It was an amazing sight. It was huge and revolving, about four miles south towards Solva. I wouldn't have liked to have been too close.

"I must have looked like a man possessed when I saw it. It must have been there for a good few minutes as I had time to get my camera.

"I've been obsessed with tornadoes since I was tiny and I even lived in America for five months specifically in the tornado season because I wanted to see one! I didn't see one in America, but now I can say I've seen one in Pembrokeshire! "This is something I have wanted to see all my life and I can't describe my surprise!"
