PEMBROKESHIRE surfers recently got on board a nationwide fundraising campaign to raise money for victims of the Boxing Day tsunami.
Defending Welsh Surf Champion, Vicki Travers, arranged the local Tsunami Surf Relief Day as a member of the British Surfing Association, which led the national fundraiser. Thanks to voluntary donations, raffle prizes from local surf shops, and the generosity of the Mariner's Inn in Nolton Haven, local band Dubweiser and DJs Padrig Rees and Leighton Jenkins, the event was a great success.
With West Wales Wind Surf and Sail's Pete Bounds also displaying some of his local surf photos, the jam-packed event raised more than £600.
The next surfing get-together will be the Welsh National Surf Championships at Freshwater West during the first May Bank Holiday.
"This year I am trying to affiliate a Pembrokeshire team for this event and would like to appeal to any or all Pembrokeshire surfers to contact myself or Pete Pounds if they are interested in entering this event and representing our county," the Roch surfer said.
