DOES Pembrokeshire have its own Loch Ness monster?

That's the question being asked, after the barmaid and customers of a Pembroke Dock pub swear they saw a giant sea creature in the Milford Haven Waterway on Thursday.

Now the search is on to solve the mystery.

David Crewe, licensee of the Shipwright public house in Front Street, Pembroke Dock, is offering a £150 reward for anyone who can catch the 'monster'.

Barmaid Lesley John was the first to spot the strange sea creature. "I was standing at the bar and looking out towards the Haven. At the side of the Gun Tower I saw something in the water. It was long and snake-like. I had never seen anything like that before. It was just after the ferry had left.

"There was white water, then a fin and something moving off. There were four people in the bar and I said look over there."

One of the customers was Peter Thomas, of the town's Apley Terrace. "I definitely saw a head and then the water splashed about ten metres away. I sail my boat off Front Street and I have never seen anything like that before," he said.

David Crewe said: "They all described it as long and snake-like. They saw the head and then the tail end. The distance between those was about four or five car lengths."

"It's caused a lot of interest locally and people have come in with quite a few suggestions about what it could be.

It's all a mystery. Is there a sea creature or not? I am willing to give a reward if anyone can find out if there is."
