A legendary Balkan band will be playing exhilarating and soulful traditional and gypsy music from central and eastern Europe at Theatr Mwldan.

Szapora bring their mesmerising brand of Balkan music to Mwldan on Thursday, September 8th.

If the intoxicating, exhilarating and heartwrenching gypsy rhythms of central and eastern Europe get you going, then this group is definitely for you.

Szapora draw their repertoire mainly from the musical traditions of Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and the gypsy heritage of middle and eastern Europe.

Their heart-rending songs are delivered with flair and vigour, at times acutely melancholic, at others emotionally exhilarating.

Led by the soulful voices of Bosnian sisters Tea and Mirella Hodzic, Szapora's international line-up includes Polish piano accordionist Vanja Krawczyk, Sarajevan singer, comedian and guitarist Mirza Halilovic, Oli Wilson-Dickson on violin, Dylan Fowler on guitar/mandocello, founder Dave Kelbie on guitar/mandolin, Paul Moylan on double bass, and Luke Carver Goss on accordion.

They have enjoyed rave reviews in the national press, sell-out concerts in London's The Purcell Room and they opened the Bath International Festival.

Tickets for Szapora, on September 8th at 7.30pm, are available priced at £9 (£8 concessions). Ring the box office on 01239 621200.
