AFTER the success of both their Clacton-on-Sea to Haverfordwest Tandem Ride in 2001, and the Land's End to John o'Groat's bike ride in 2003, an even bigger test faces eight members of Haverfordwest Round Table this year.
The challenge chosen this time is a bicycle ride from Haverfordwest to its twin town in Germany - Oberkirch.
The intrepid cyclists will leave Haverfordwest on Friday, September 23rd, reaching Oberkirch on September 30th.
In total, the distance travelled will be 707 miles, in just seven-and-a-half days, with the group travelling through Wales, England, France and Germany.
"This year, the proceeds of sponsorship will be split in half," said Tabler David Howlett.
"One half will be given to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), which does a fantastic job around our coasts to keep anyone who comes into contact with the water safe. The other half will be given to The Anthony Nolan Trust, which is an independent charity that annually saves the lives of hundreds of men, women and children with leukaemia, by providing those in desperate need with volunteer donors from their bone marrow register."
Anyone who wishes to sponsor the event is asked to contact Dr Dave Davies at Winch Lane Surgery, Haverfordwest, on 01437 762333, or by sending a cheque, made payable to Haverfordwest Round Table Bike Ride, to Dr Davies.
Sponsor forms are also available at County Sports, Rhos Cottage Dental Surgery, and Winch Lane Doctors Surgery, or from any member of Haverfordwest Round Table.
This Saturday and September 17th, members of Haverfordwest Round Table will be collecting at The Riverside Quay, Haverfordwest.
