Saundersfoot is getting a special spruce-up this week in readiness for the village’s annual Food and Craft Festival.

A community litter-pick is taking place ahead of the weekend’s festival, which is being staged by Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism as a celebration of St David’s Day and the approach of Spring.

Keep Wales Tidy is organising the litter-gathering session, and volunteers are asked to meet at the Tourist Information Centre on Friday at 1pm, when litter-picking equipment will be provided.

The village already has several voluntary Litter Champions who are supported by Keep Wales Tidy to tackle local litter issues.

And, said Mari Williams of Keep Wales Tidy: “We hope that enthusiasm for the event will lead to a Tidy Towns group for Saundersfoot, to enable volunteers to carry out regular practical environmental projects to improve the area.”

Meanwhile the festival’s huge heated marquee will be opening its doors at 10am on Saturday to reveal an array of stalls offering food, gifts and crafts. There will also be three cookery demonstrations by Angela Gray on both days, and the famous Saturday lunchtime Cawl Trail around local eating establishments, who are bidding for supremacy in the Cawl Cooking Championships of the World….and Elsewhere.

The festival takes place between 10am and 6pm on Saturday and 10am and 5pm on Sunday, with the cawl trail running between 11am and 3pm on Saturday.
