Pembrokeshire’s only representatives in the final of a national competition to find the UK’s greenest teens have been congratulated by adventurer Ben Fogle.

The team from Tenby’s Greenhill School reached the final of nPower’s Climate Cops contest with their eco-friendly idea for a car share scheme.

Last Wednesday, the pupils had their work showcased at Birmingham’s Think Tank Science Museum alongside the projects proposed by the other nine finalists.

Greenhill was not amongst the first three prize winners, but had shown “fantastic dedication and impressive resourcefulness,” said Clare McDougall, head of npower Climate Cops.

And Ben Fogle added: “Greenhill School students have proved that small actions can make a big difference.”

After the Greenhill team devised the car-share initiative for the school’s teachers and support staff, it has now teamed up with the Welsh Assembly’s car-share scheme for south west Wales, Swwitch2share. The pupils will soon be delivering promotional material to local businesses to market it.
