AN UNFORTUNATE car driver became swamped by the incoming tide on Traeth Mawr, Newport recently after getting stuck in soft sand.
Holidaymaker Brian Gillinder captured the drama unfolding with his camera, as the occupants of the Nissan tried to free the stranded car, and the wheels spun and dug deeper into the sand.
A local farmer came to the rescue with his tractor, and the stricken car was pulled back up the beach before it could be swept out to sea.
Moylegrove and Fishguard Coastguard rescue teams and the Preseli Sector Manager attended.
The car driver was an elderly woman from Shropshire. Her vehicle was successfully recovered and no pollution occurred.
