Haverfordwest Chamber of Commerce feels that a little bit more research by Peter Bellan of St Davids (Lack of Research, Western Telegraph letters, October 5th) would have shown him that the objection he refers to was against an application by Prudential Property Investment Managers Ltd. Their Application was for change of use of the premises from the original purpose for the sale of 'bulky goods' at Springfield Retail Park, which it is considered would fail to comply with the sequential test as required by Planning Policy Wales.
Haverfordwest Chamber wishes to make it clear that it would welcome Matalan or any other national or independent retailer to come to Haverfordwest to occupy some of the many empty premises within the town which would strengthen our historic claim to being the County Town of Pembrokeshire.
Yours sincerely Ray Harrison Secretary Haverfordwest Chamber of Commerce
