A nine-year-old girl was rescued from the rocks near Broad Haven yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.
The child had been kayaking with her older sisters, aged 12 and 14, when all three became separated from their vessels in the rough seas.
They all managed to swim onto rocks and the older girls then swam to shore. The nine-year-old was left stranded on the rocks.
Her mother from, Colchester, Essex, tried to swim out but was unable to get to her child due to adverse conditions. A man in a small boat also attempted rescue but was not able to get near the rocks.
Members of the Little Haven lifeboat were alerted to the drama by people in the village. They self-launched and managed to retrieve the child from the rocks, reuniting her with her relieved family.
