TWO talented pupils from Ysgol Solfach flew the flag for Pembrokeshire at the recent National Urdd Eisteddfod in north Wales.

Cerian Churchill and Billie-Louise Voyce, both 11 years-old, travelled to Bala during Whitsun week at the end of May to take part in the creative writing competition for learners (years five and six). Both achieved success, with Cerian gaining first place and Billie-Louise third.

Ysgol Solfach had 13 pupils at the National Eisteddfod, having done themselves proud at the area competition held in Letterston earlier in the year.

Year six pupil Cerys Rees-Harries played the harp, Adran Solfawr represented the school in the Singing Parti, Parti Max in the Grwp Llefru, and Grwp Solfach in the Ymgom.

The Urdd National Eisteddfod is one of Europe's largest youth touring festivals which attracts around 100,000 visitors each year.

More than 15,000 children and young people competed during the Eisteddfod week in various competitions such as singing, dancing and performing.

Johanna Jones, administration officer at Ysgol Solfach said: "We are very proud of both Cerian and Billie-Louise, and all the pupils from the school that travelled to Bala to represent the school and Pembrokeshire. Da iawn pawb."
