A CHARITY helping sick children in Wales has benefitted to the tune of £450, thanks to a local Young Farmers Club (YFC).

Tiers Cross YFC has donated £450 to the Noah's Ark Appeal, which fundraises for the Children’s Hospital for Wales.

The money was raised by members from carol singing at Christmas time.

Noah's Ark Appeal was picked as current county chairman of Pembrokeshire YFC, Tom Bevan, is supporting this charity this year.

Established in 2000 to raise the £5 million needed for the building costs of Phase One of the Children’s Hospital for Wales, it has since raised millions more for specialist equipment.

In 2008, it launched a new campaign to raise £7million for vital projects in Phase Two of the Children’s Hospital for Wales, a project which was given a boost in December 2011 when then Health Minister Lesley Griffiths visited the Children’s Hospital for Wales to announce £63.8 million funding for the building work.

Anyone aged 10 to 26 can join YFC, and in Pembrokeshire there are currently more than 600 members from all walks of life who enjoy taking part in activities through the organisation.

Tiers Cross YFC meet on a Tuesday evening at 8pm in Tiers Cross Church Hall. For more information about becoming a member, ring the County Offices on 01437 762639 or email sir.benfro@yfc-wales.org.uk.
