THE Western Telegraph has been named Weekly Newspaper of the Year at the 2018 Wales Media Awards.
At a ceremony in Cardiff last night (March 23), the paper retained the title - first won last year - against fellow nominees the County Times and the Cambrian News.
Judges said the paper's strong news content had held up over the last year, with one commenting: "You get the impression that if aliens landed and read the Western Telegraph, it would only take them a couple of weeks to understand life in Pembrokeshire.
"This newspaper has followed the mantra of “all that is fit to print” and is still successfully following that formula after more than a century and a half."
The award was sponsored by Western Power Distribution.
