Missing unpaid work appointments led to a suspended prison sentence for a Pembroke Dock man.
Steven John Tysoe, of London Road, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a community order when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Monday, April 29.
The court heard that Tysoe, 37, had been sentenced to a 12-month community order with unpaid work following a random assault in a supermarket car park.
Julie Norman of the probation service, said Tysoe failed to attend two unpaid work appointments, adding that this was his second breach of the order.
Mike Kelleher, defending, said Tysoe had missed the bus on one occasion, and was let down by a lift on the other.
“There are a variety of reasons why this order has broken down, and he accepts full responsibility. The simple fact is that it was getting too much for him and making him ill.”
Mr Kelleher added that Tysoe had been drunk at the time of the original offence, which was his first conviction.
“He has not had a drink since that time because what happened frightened him so much.”
Magistrates sentenced Tysoe to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and told him he must complete his outstanding unpaid work hours.
