Mrs S V Shewring

Llandissilio

THE funeral took place on June 5 of Sheila Veronica Shewring of Perthi Teg, Llandissilio, who died at Withybush Hospital on May 26.

She was 69 years.

One of four children of the late John and May Williams, Sheila was born in Maenclochog and brought up on Trawsnant farm from where she attended the local school and Preseli School.

At the age of 16 years she went to London to train and follow a career as a hairdresser.

There she met her husband Frank and in 1988 moved back to Pembrokeshire and made their home at Perthu Teg where they made numerous lifelong friends.

She worked at the Llandissilio school until her retirement.

Sheila devoted her life to her husband, family and friends. She took great pride in her home and garden and loved to throw large parties when she was ‘the hostess with the mostest’.

She took great interest in her nieces and nephew and played a large part in their lives.

Due to ill health in the past few years she was unable to participate in all the joyous occasions she had formerly been so active in arranging and sharing with family and friends.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Frank, sister, family and friends.

The private funeral service held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth was officiated by Mr Mike Ashbridge, funeral celebrant.

The principal mourners and family left to mourn are husband Frank, sisters Cassie and Anne, brother-in-law Derek, nieces Michelle, Jane, Charmain and Zoe and nephew Jack.

The bearers were four of Sheila’s cousins.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by W J Kenneth Davies, Blaenwern, Clynderwen.

Mrs D Davies

Haverfordwest

DILYS Davies passed away at the age of 91 at the Langton Hall Care Home, Scleddau, Fishguard on June 4.

A longtime resident of Queensway in Haverfordwest, she was born in Llanboidy, Carmarthenshire, one of a family of four sisters and one brother.

Her father, a well known local figure had run the garage in the village.

After war service with the Royal Observer Corps in Carmarthen where she was an aircraft plotter in the control room, she moved to Haverfordwest in 1950 with her husband, Dewi, an engineer and later manager with the GPO and British Telecom.

Her great love was fashion and arts and craft.

She produced embroidery and designed and made her own clothes in the 1970s and 1980s.

Always immaculately dressed and of diminutive stature she was well known to many people and tradesmen in the town.

She was a regular attendee at Tabernacle Chapel in Haverfordwest where her husband had been a life deacon and secretary and took part fully in the social activities there.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2003 but managed to live at home in Queensway until old age and increasing forgetfulness meant that she moved to be treated with great care and love at Langton Hall.

The funeral took place on June 15, initially at Tabernacle Chapel and later Parc Gwyn. The Reverends Christopher Gillham and Steve Woods officiated.

She leaves a son, Peter and Avril, her daughter-in-law.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son Ltd of Haverfordwest.
