AFTER a slow start in August things certainly have picked-up this month as the heat-wave has past and anglers have had produced some decent bags at Llysyfran.

This period also saw the heaviest fish so far landed on the fly. This was a fish of 9lbs 1oz landed by Peter Isaacs of Pembroke Dock while fishing fly from the bank.

Notable bags for anglers fishing ledgered worm during August include Ray Muskett of Manobier with six fish for 14lbs 8ozs. Ray bag also included a best fish of 3lbs, and William Luke of Milford Haven with six fish for 15lbs 1oz. Williams wife Patricia has recorded one of the heaviest bags taken so far during September. Patricias bag was weighed in at 16lbs 12ozs with a best fish of 3lbs 10ozs.

Fly boat has also produced some very good bags over the past few weeks. Newton Lee, a season permit holder recorded a six fish limit of 13lbs, again with a best fish of 3lbs. Rob Pugh landed six fish for 14lbs 2ozs and Brian Dalton of Haverfordwest, another season permit holder, took six fish for 14lbs 6ozs. Brians bag included a best fish of 3lbs 4ozs.

Limit bags for anglers fishing fly from the bank include, Jim Fyson of Haverfordwest with six fish for 11lbs 3ozs. Steve Brown, also of Haverfordwest, with six fish for 12lbs 4ozs and D Jenkins of Pontarddulais with six fish for 12lbs 12ozs.
