THE season is only one game old - but we already have a managerial change in Division One of the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League after the West Dragons confirmed they had parted company with player boss Matthew Price last night (Thursday).
In the meantime, players Steve Allen and Lee Palmer will take charge until a new permanent appointment is made.
The club sent a statement to Telegraph Sport last night that said: "We have parted company with Matthew Price and have thanked him for all he has done over his three years at the club, and the work he has put it.
"However, the club feels it needs need a change of direction and we wish him well in the future."
Price has led The Dragons to two third place finishes in the top flight these past two seasons, and their campaign began this time around with a 2-1 home defeat against Merlins Bridge on Tuesday night.
He told Telegraph Sport: "I was disappointed to learn that the West Dragons feel they want to go in a different direction.
"I have slowly been building what I believe to be the best footballing side that I can have at The Dragons and the new manager will inherit an excellent squad.
"I do understand that the club wants a change and I do understand that there will always be certain people unhappy with what are you doing, but that's football."
Price added he wished the club all the best in the future.
The Dragons travel to Clarbeston Road this coming Tuesday.
