Welsh League Division One:

Llanelli Town 2-0 Haverfordwest County

The title ambitions of Haverfordwest County took a hammer blow last night as they were beaten in their crucial clash with league leaders Llanelli Town at Stebonheath Park.

The Bluebirds matched their hosts for long periods, but were always up against it after Chris Jones fired Llanelli in front eight minutes in.

It stayed that way until the dying seconds, before Lee Trundle took advantage of the visitors pushing men forward to race clear and inevitably finish clinically to setttle matters.

The result leaves Haverfordwest third, 12 points of Llanelli and even with two games in hand, catching Trundle and co appears unlikely for Sean Cresser's side.

But a top two finish is still on their cards, with second placed Penybont six points clear of the Bluebirds, but they only have two league games left having played six more times than the Pembrokeshire team.

So there is still all to play for in the remaining eight matches for Haverfordwest, starting with their away game at third from bottom Monmouth Town on Saturday.

Following that on Saturday, April 7th, it's another crunch clash at home to Afan Lido. The Port Talbot outfit currently sit one place, and one point, below The Bluebirds in fourth.
