It wasn't a bad weekend or two of swimming.

Pembrokeshire County Swimming (PCS) member Rhys Davies is recovering from the recent regional championships in Haverfordwest after breaking two INAS world records.

He clocked 2:09:01 in the 200 metre backstroke and 2:00:28 over the same distance in freestyle as his ambitions to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics remain on track.

During the Championships, held over two successive weekends in the Haverfordwest Leisure Centre, he also broke the SM14 400 metre British para swimming individual medley record.

His success follows a two week training camp in Thailand earlier this year with Swim Wales, and he is also due to go to Manchester to train with the British Swimming Para Academy.

"Rhys is training really well and is looking good for Tokyo and hopefully the World Championships later this year," said PCS head coach Craig Nelson.

"He's shown what he can do in these regional championships and the rest of the club performed really well also.

"We are really building a good legacy for swimming and para-swimming."

Under coach Nelson and assistant Nick Russell, PCS is one of 11 performance clubs in Wales.
