Division 1: Clarbeston Road 3-4 Monkton Swifts
Ben Steele scored a terrific hat-trick to help Monkton Swifts come from 3-1 down and just snatch victory against luckless Clarbeston Road.
Steele opened the scoring with a fierce 20-yard right foot drive which flew in the top corner.
The hosts equalised when Richie Bevan made no mistake from the penalty spot, and The Road continued to put The Swifts under pressure before Ben John drilled in his side’s second.
Just before the break The Road added a third through an own goal to have a healthy 3-1 cushion at half time.
The Swifts then changed their formation by putting five in midfield and this certainly helped Joe Lewis’ side.
A minute after the break Steele profited from Ryan Griffiths’ cross for a simple tap-in.
Ten minutes later and Steele equalised with an exquisite 30-yard direct free kick which flew in the top corner to complete the striker’s treble.
In the 75th minute The Swifts sealed the win through Dylan Davies, that was put on a plate by man of the match Steele.
This victory kept Monkton's one 100% record, winning four from four, and they sit three points clear at the top.
“Clarby played well and really gave us a fright,” said Monkton manager Joe Lewis.
“We played a lot better in the second half and Steele scored a superb hat-trick to help us win the game.”
