The annual Broad Haven Christmas Pudding Run will go ahead in December, albeit virtually.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic hosting the 10k race, which starts and finishes at Broad Haven beach, will not be possible this year.

However one of the organisers, Hazel Rudder, has confirmed to Telegraph Sport it will go ahead in virtual form, and there will be extra distance options to boot.

"We are  doing things virtually and there will be the option of a 5 kilometre event, a 10 kilometre, and a 1500 metre 'Little Puds' run.

She also confirmed that this years’ chosen charity for the event is Belle’s Story – a local charity who provide direct support to young people touched by life-limiting illness and disabilities.

Other charities the races support on an ongoing basis are: Prostate Cymru, Surfers Against Sewage, and Friends of Broad Haven School, who also help organise the run.

"We have no idea how much money we will be able to raise this year doing this as a virtual event," admitted Hazel.

"But charities have been hit so hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and all of the fundraising events it has prevented, and we would love to see this become a successful virtual event and raise as much as possible to help out."

Entries are open now and will close on November 30th - and entrants will then have until December 15th to complete their event and email or post a picture of the finishing time.

"This can be completed wherever you like within Covid-19 guidelines - off-road, on-road, on a treadmill.

"For the Little Puds Run, the distance is 1500m. This might be a lot for the smaller Puds to complete in one go, so you can do this as a cumulative event if you wish."

All finishers usually receive a bonus Chrsitmas pudding, something that is obviously not logistically possible this year.

"We don’t want to be posting puddings out, so there is a standard run entry fee for all runners – all of which will go to our chosen charities.

"On the entry page there is also the option of purchasing an event embroidered badge or beanie when you enter."

Any local businesses who would like to help out by sponsoring this event, can e-mail xmaspuddingrun@hotmail.co.uk for further details. All sponsors will appear on our website and on the optional event t-shirt.
