HAKIN United came from behind to beat Herbrandston 4-1 in the Joe Lennon Memorial Cup final.

Herbie went ahead early on, going in front when Callum Stannett headed in Scott Reid’s corner.

Hakin responded through Luke Hart who levelled with a 15 yard effort, which went in off the post.

Ryan Wilson then skipped past three defenders and fired in to put Hakin in front.

Wilson then turned provider, crossing to the back post for Bradley Barrett to head home.

James Trueman put the game beyond any doubt striking from close range after good work by Wilson.

In the four team tournament, Hakin side saw off Milford United 5-1 in the first semi-final, while Herbrandston beat Milford Athletic 5-0.

Wilson was presented with the silverware as well as receiving the man of the match award.

Lennon, who was at the helm as manager of Hakin in a period of sustained success in the 1990s, died in 2010 aged 60 after a prolonged illness.

Tournament organiser Jonny ‘Bap’ Lewis hailed a successful evening saying it was great to have people back.

“It’s fantastic to have the clubs so keen to take part again. He may have coached Hakin but Joe supported the whole of Pembrokeshire football.”
