Morriston 17.

Crymych 19.

Crymych produced a terrific team effort to cause one of the surprise results of the day as they travelled to Morriston and beat the league leaders with some cracking tries and a defence that coach Glyndwr Richards described as superb'.

"We defended well," said Richards, "and although we fell behind a couple of times we never gave up - and this win shows our real capability."

Morriston took the lead with a try by centre Mike Pompa but the Preseli Men fought back when Elgan Vittle made a nice midfield break and found co-centre Steffan Phillips at his elbow to stride through and claim an unconverted try.

Carwyn Jones then sliced through from his full back berth as Huw Rees and Gareth Davies brought him into action, with Jones also adding the extra points - but back came Morriston when outside half Liam Davies cut through for a five-pointer.

The Preseli Men found themselves behind by 17-12 at half time as flanker Steve Evans grabbed Morriston's third try, converted by Davies but Crymych scored the only points of a tight second period when Gareth Davies was felled chasing his own clever chip ahead and Jones converted the penalty try awarded since Davies looked sure to score.

From then on it was a sound defence which gave Crymych the double since they had already beaten Morriston at home by 12-10, with the back row tackling like demons and the whole team making sure of a job well done and another good win in the bag for Crymych.
