Fishguard & Goodwick Women faced an away trip for their league fixture against Cardiff Medics 3s but suffered a tough defeat.

The first half proved to be a very tight affair with both teams creating chances, but it was the home team that broke the deadlock with a well-executed short corner routine. Fishguard & Goodwick responded strongly though, and shortly afterwards found themselves with a short corner of their own which was duly converted to bring the scores back level. As the first half closed out, both sides probed looking to take the initiative but both keepers made good saves and the scores were level at the break.

The second half was a story of short corners and territory, with Cardiff Medics starting strongly and pinning the visitors in with a succession of short corners and ruthless pressing in the midfield. Some great defending from the visitors kept the scores level, but eventually the territory began to count and pressure eventually told as the Medics were able to re-take their lead, which they followed up with a few more goals to put themselves 4-1 up, despite the best efforts of Fishguard & Goodwick’s goalkeeper Ffion Price. A late short corner for the visitors threatened to bring the scores back closer, but a great bit of defence and a clinical counter attack led to a goal the other end to round out a win for the hosts.
