The official hydration partner for the IRONMAN events - including Tenby's - has been announced.

Precision Fuel & Hydration (PF&H) has teamed up with IRONMAN for the European Triathlon Series, and will be providing their popular PH 1000 electrolyte drink for all athletes.

This low-calorie sports beverage claims to contain double the sodium of typical sports offerings, vital for athletes who sometimes lose nearly 950mg of sodium per litre of sweat, according to PF&H data.

PF&H’s CEO, Andy Blow, spoke about his own hydration struggles during past IRONMAN events, and how it inspired him to create the company.

Mr Blow said: “Having raced IRONMAN triathlons as a pro back in the early 2000s, I’m delighted that PF&H is now an official partner."

The partnership was also celebrated by the IRONMAN team, with Declan Byrne, head of operations, Europe, Middle East & Africa, expressing his enthusiasm.

He said: "We are really excited to welcome Precision Fuel & Hydration as an official partner for our European IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 triathlons."

The Tenby IRONMAN event is scheduled to take place on September 22. Athletes can expect to find PH 1000 on the course and also have free access to advice from PF&H's athlete support squad.
