Llangwm 12.

Furnace 22.

Llangwm suffered the disappointment of a home defeat as Furnace eased to victory. They led 15-0 at the interval and added the killer blow of a converted try straight after the interval as the Wasps sought to use the wind and slope.

The Wasps haven’t had the numbers in training of late and this showed in their slow start to the match as Furnace ran in tries by No 8 Ben Phillips and player/coach Mark Cook, with a penalty and conversion by No 10 Simon Cousins. Furnace also caught Llangwm cold at the start of the second half when flanker Lee Cook raced over and Cousins added the extras to put his team 22 points to the good.

Llangwm showed their capabilities as Justin Mountstevens grabbed a rare try, the veteran prop rounding off a good forward drive from a lineout. Back row man Simon Brick also got on the scoresheet with a well-taken try, converted by No 10 Andrew Harries but the Wasps couldn’t add any further scores, despite the efforts of skipper Ian Griffiths to cajole his team into some real graft.
