The good news is that nine Pembrokeshire teams progressed into the West Wales Intermediate Cup second round.

The biggest shock was the fact that both high-flying Hakin United and Pennar Robins lost two-nil at Pontarddulais Town and Ragged School respectively.

Another surprise was second division Pembroke Borough winning 4-2 at first division Carew.

The most dramatic victory of the ties was St Ishmaels drawing 1-1 away at Blaenymaes. It stayed level after extra-time then Tish finally won in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out 7-6.

Steve Evans (2), James Dean (2). Kieron O’Brien, Johny Hogan and Tom Jones all netted for Goodwick United in their easy 7-0 home win against Carreg Wen Colts.

Robbie Waters struck a well-taken hat-trick to earn Merlins Bridge a hard-fought 3-2 win over Pengelli United at the Racecourse.

Simon Morgan, Peter Appleby and Adam La Rosa grabbed the goals for Neyland in their sweet 3-1 victory at Murton Rovers.

Narberth gained a convincing 6-2 win at home against Evans and Williams. The Bluebirds’ goal grabbers were Harry Allen (2), Ritchie Adams, Morgan Preece, Raff Barnett and Josh Layzell.

Ben Jones (2), Luke Jones (2) and Craig Chandler helped Solva to an excellent 5-2 win at home over Calsonic Kansei. Milford Athletic marched into the next round after an excellent 4-0 victory over Goderegraig at Pill Lane.

Kilgetty’s clash at Llansamlet was abandoned after 45 minutes and Tenby’s trip to Port Tennant Colts was postponed. Both these teams will have play at the next available date.

Looking on the bleak side Lamphey lost 5-0 at Hafod Rangers, St Florence were thumped 5-1 at home by Rockspur, while Clarbeston Road were brought back down to earth, losing by the same margin at against Gowerton Juniors.
