Hakin Social B regained the Knockout Cup with a famous victory over league champions, Black Rabbit A at the Conservative Club.
The format of the competition was five frames of singles on aggregate scores, with the Hakin side getting 100 points’ start.
Hakin’s Shaun Roberts gained a 18-point victory over out-of-touch John Lloyd in the opening frame.
Dai Oughton potted the last red to compile a break of 28 and seal the second frame against Rabbits’ Sean Davis.
Rabbits’ vastly experienced Brett John took the third frame, with a nice 28-break against Hakin’s Jimmy Jarrett.
Nathan Watts (Hakin) beat Keith Williams comfortably, making a 27 points colour clearance.
The last frame was just a formality, with the points tally 152 in Hakin’s favour.
However, Alan Roberts (Hakin) played another experienced player in Andrew Smith, and the Rabbit man proved too good for Alan, with breaks of 18, 20 and 22 to win the frame easily.
The trophies were presented by league secretary Malcolm King. He thanked the Conservative Club for the use of the table and for providing an excellent buffet.
