A Pembroke Dock teenager has been selected to join the GBR topper national junior sailing team.
Danielle Rowe, aged 13, from Pembroke Dock, who earlier in the year represented Great Britain at the Irish topper nationals sailing competition in Blessington, has now been selected for 2009/10 GBR topper national junior sailing squad.
Over the course of the next twelve months she will be travelling the length and breadth of the UK to train and compete against youngsters from around the country as well as a trip to Lake Garda, Italy at the end of August next year, to compete in the topper world championships.
This is the first time Danielle, who started sailing at the tender age of nine and is a member of Neyland Yacht Club and the Welsh national sailing squad, has been selected for the full GBR squad.
Danielle said: “I’m really pleased to have been selected. I have worked hard over the last season to improve my rankings. The challenge for me now is to improve on last year’s performance, but ambition is to get picked for the full national squad.”
