Milford Haven 13
Tenby 22

Tenby United put a dent in Milford Haven’s promotion hopes on Friday night, the Seasiders travelling to the Observatory and coming away with a deserved 11-22 win.

The away side also notched four tries to claim a bonus point and condemn the Mariners to only their third defeat of the season.

The home side did lead 10-5 at the interval, with returning full-back Leigh Broome kicking them into an early lead, before quick handling from the Tenby backline allowed winger Nemeni Ratu to score in the corner. The Mariners regained the initiative just before half-time, however, when fly-half Jim Farr threw the ball wide and powerful winger Tom Bullivant went over in the corner, with Broome landing a superb conversion.

Broome also added a second half penalty but the final half hour was one-way traffic, as Gareth Edwards and Johnny Lane got a a foothold in the lineout, providing a platform from which winger George Evans levelled the scores. No 8 Sam Smith then powered over and the result, plus the Seasider’s bonus point, was sealed when full-back David Merrick sliced through to complete a memorable win for Emori Katalau’s men.
