A LANDOWNER is offering a reward after a pet ram was savaged and killed by a dog.

The incident happen yesterday (Tuesday October 17) near to a public footpath that goes over land owned by Sarah Eyles in Llanfihangel-Ar-Arth.

She is now offering a £50 reward if anyone has any information that leads to a successful prosecution.

“The owner of the ram, who was renting my field, rang up in tears, and was distraught. The ram had apparently been mauled by what must have been a rather large dog or dogs, and there was wool and blood everywhere,” said Sarah.

“What sort of irresponsible dog owner lets their dog off the lead around animals? And then when their dog attacks and kills livestock, and in this case not just livestock but a pet, makes off like a thief in the night? It is appalling behaviour.

“I have up to this time been impressed by the politeness and consideration of people using the footpath across my land but this incident has changed my mind about having people walking on my land.

“I rang the police and they have taken the details of the attack. My hope is that some CCTV footage from a local house will show who was walking on the path with a large dog.”

If anyone knows anything about the incident, contact Dyfed- Powys police quoting reference DP-20171017-353.

“Please, please, be responsible dog owners, and do not let your dog off the lead on agricultural land,” added Sarah.
