Jealousy led to a Cardigan man assaulting two people and spending a night in the cells.

Daniel Lee Noble, of Station Road, Cardigan, appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Wednesday, November 4, having previously pleaded guilty to two assault charges.

The court heard that Noble, 38, had argued with his girlfriend while in a pub on October 11.

She left to go to a friend’s house where she had a few more drinks and Noble spotted the pair through the window as he walked home.

Noble went into the property, confronted the pair and accused them of having sex.

Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, said: “It is unclear who started what. The defendant was acting in far more than self-defence. He punched the male complainant four or five times and ragged the woman around.

“She says he grabbed hold of her and threw her around the kitchen and the lounge.”

The court heard that Noble grabbed a guitar at one point and held it above his head, but he did not hit anyone with it.

Jonathan Webb, defending, said: “An argument ensued between the parties. He accepts it went beyond reasonable self-defence and he is responsible for both complainants’ injuries.”

He added that Noble had spent around 24 hours in custody as a result.

“He fully accepts that it was an unsavoury incident.

“He was jealous and angry at seeing his girlfriend with a former partner. He regrets it now and fully wishes he had handled it differently.”

Magistrates imposed a 24-month community order with a building better relationships programme and a 20-day rehabilitation activity.

Noble was ordered to pay £580 in a fine, compensation, costs and a surcharge.
