Almost 600 people have registered to attend this year's Sport Pembrokeshire Awards.

The ceremony, which celebrates sporting achievements in the County, will be taking place at Folly Farm this Friday.

Councillor Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for Sport and Leisure said the response reflected the depth of commitment to grass roots sport in Pembrokeshire.

"With 70 nominations in nine categories it is set to be the largest sports award ceremony ever held in the County," he said.

"I would like to thank all our sponsors for their support. I am sure that these Awards are set to become an annual high point in our County's sporting calendar.' John Deason, Sport Pembrokeshire Manager, said the nominations were all of a very high standard.

"As well as recognising sporting achievement, they also recognise the value of the coaches, teachers and volunteer administrators that keep our sport going," he said.

"Such is the quality of nominations that the selection panel has decided to issue everyone concerned with a commemorative certificate."

As of today, 570 people have registered to attend Friday's event.
