Controversial plans for the expansion of a school are due to be discussed this week.

Proposals for Vaughan Primary School, in The Gardens, West Harrow, are due to go in front of Harrow Borough Council’s planning committee on Wednesday.

The proposals include the construction of a new two-storey building, a remodelling of the existing building, and a new parking layout.

Campaigners both for and against the planned building work have handed in petitions into the council.

The school has already increased its intake from 60 to 90 pupils a year, and some parents fear part of the school is not fit for purpose and will need temporary classrooms by September 2014.

However some people living near the school who claim the development will increase traffic, put pressure on parking and add noise and disruption.
